Mr. Parkison received his undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida and taught seven years at Palatka High School in Palatka, Florida. A native of Riceville, Tennessee, Mr. Parkison returned to McMinn County in 1993 and began his career with McMinn County Schools in 1996 as a teacher and coach at Calhoun Elementary School. He furthered his education by obtaining his Masters Degree in Administration and his Education Specialist Degree from Tennessee Tech University. In 2004, he was appointed as the Assistant Principal at Riceville Elementary School before accepting the position of Principal at E. K. Baker Elementary School in 2006. Mr. Parkison moved to the Central Office in July of 2014 where he assumed the SMS/Attendance Supervisor position until his appointment as the Director of McMinn County Schools in January 2019.
Mr. Parkison and his wife, Karen, reside on the family farm in the Eastanallee Community and are active members of Eastanallee Baptist Church. He and his wife have three children: Zachary Parkison of Riceville, TN; Michael Parkison of Fredricksburg, Va; and Kaylee Parkison-Evans of Marietta, Ga.
