The McMinn Central Livestock Judging Team brought home a top-three finish from the Wilson County State Fair Livestock Open Evaluation, placing third out of 90 teams and earning awards for their performance.
Leading the way individually was Jenna Lee, who placed second among 379 participants in the senior high division. Jenna posted a score of 288, finishing just four points behind the day's top individual score of 292.

In livestock judging, students look at a group of animals like cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats and rank them from best to worst based on quality. Then, students stand up and explain their choices out loud to a judge, from memory. The event rewards close observation, quick thinking, and confident public speaking, and it connects directly to Tennessee's agriculture industry. The group is coached by Katherine Schultz, agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at McMinn Central.
