Japanese Delegation Tours MCHS CTE Program

McMinn County High School welcomed a delegation from Isahaya, Japan, this week as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the sister-city relationship between Athens, Tennessee and Isahaya. During their visit, delegation members toured the school's Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, meeting with students and educators and observing hands-on demonstrations across several career pathways.

The tour offered visitors a firsthand look at how MCHS students are developing practical skills and gaining experience in fields such as skilled trades, technology and industry. Students had the opportunity to showcase their work and share what they are learning with guests from across the world.

"Our CTE students are learning skills that are in demand right here at home and around the world. Watching them demonstrate their work to guests from Isahaya showed just how ready they are for what comes next," said Melasawn Knight, director of McMinn County Schools.

Established in 1986, the Athens-Isahaya sister-city relationship has supported cultural exchange and cooperation between the two communities for four decades. The delegation's visit to MCHS provided an opportunity to continue that tradition through education and workforce development.

McMinn County Schools extends its appreciation to the City of Athens, the visiting delegation and the MCHS students, educators and staff who helped make the visit possible.
