FCA is hosting a canned food drive to help support Women at the Well Ministry. Both FCA members & non-members can bring in cans to support this great ministry. Cans are due by October 1st!

We had our second Hives assembly yesterday! Our updated points show that our Ethos Hive, led by Mrs. Malone, is in the lead with 879 points! Each Hive selected a few members to play a live-action version of "Hungry, Hungry Hippo!" for extra points, and the competition was fierce! We are excited to see students eager to earn points for their respective hive through grades, attendance, and good behavior!

Last week, ATS the Bridge met with 6th grade to discuss drug use/vaping prevention. ATS works to protect the next generation from substance abuse and prepare them to become responsible citizens through awareness and education. EKB is proud to partner with an organization that cares deeply for our students' wellbeing and safety!

Our middle school enrichment and special classes have had a fun filled week. Students have been painting rocks in Mrs. Torbett's art class for our rock garden. Students have been practicing with a digital camera in Ms. Hardy's Graphics and Design class, preparing to be photographers for our yearbook. Students have been learning about handwashing and microbes by comparing the power of handwashing, hand sanitizer, and germ filled surfaces in Mr. Hughes' STEM Lab. Students have been collecting eggs, learning about the incubating process, and caring for the chickens in Mrs. Rue's Ag Science class. This is only a few of the amazing things our students are learning outside of their core subject areas. Great things are happening at EKB!

Yellow Jackets of the Month! Congratulations to our September students, teacher, and staff member of the month! A student from each homeroom was chosen for being justly or fair. Then two students were randomly drawn to represent PreK-3rd grade and 4th-8th grade as the overall students of the month. Our teacher and staff member of the month were nominated by their colleagues for simply being outstanding and going above and beyond for our school.
Last week, our FCA student leaders had the opportunity to attend the Meigs/McMinn FCA Leadership Day at Athens First Baptist! This was our first time participating, and it was extremely rewarding for all of our students and faculty sponsors!
Our FCA Huddle leaders heard from many great speakers, connected with other middle school FCA clubs, and discussed new ways to help further grow and develop FCA for EKB.
We'd like to thank Clearwater Baptist Church for sponsoring our FCA leaders and allowing them to attend the trip at no cost to them. Clearwater has been very supportive of our FCA club for years, and we are grateful for their help!

Yesterday, we had our first FFA meeting. We had the McMinn County High School Officer Team and Advisors come by to demonstrate opening ceremonies. We also discussed the "famous" blue jackets! We are making plans for our next event in November. Great things are happening at EKB!
