MCS will be closed November 24th to November 28th for Thanksgiving Break. Please see below for a special message from Interim Director of Schools, Melasawn Knight.
As we head into Thanksgiving break, I want to take a moment to wish all of our students, families, and community members a safe, restful, and joyful holiday.
This season reminds us of the importance of gratitude, and I am truly thankful for the incredible McMinn County community. To our students, you inspire us every day. To our parents and families, thank you for your partnership and support. And to our community, your continued encouragement and investment in our schools make a tremendous difference.
I also want to say how grateful I am for the outstanding employees of McMinn County Schools. Their dedication, hard work, and heart are what make this district such a special place for our students.
I hope the week ahead brings you time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the people and moments that matter most. We look forward to welcoming our students back refreshed and ready to finish this semester strong.
Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Melasawn Knight, Interim Director of Schools

Parents, Your Involvement Matters More Than You Know!
Did you know that when parents stay engaged in their child’s education, students do better in school and feel more confident? Thank you to our spectacular Engagment Coordinators at CHS and MCHS! #allinformcminncountyschools

Why Family Engagement in Schools Matters
When families and schools work together, amazing things happen!
Family involvement isn’t just helpful—it's a key part of student success.
*Higher achievement
*Stronger relationships between home and school
*More motivation and confidence for students
*Better behavior and social skills
*A stronger sense of community
When parents, guardians, and educators team up, students thrive. Let’s continue building those connections that help every child shine!
Thank you to all our Elementary School Family Engagement Coordinators for their dedicaiton to all our families!

A huge THANK YOU to Englewood School for our beautiful pink Christmas tree in honor of Dr. Julie Goodin!
Pictured: Ms. Kristi McDonald, Principal & Ms. Tonya Lee, Vice Principal.
We absolutely love our tree, and we appreciate you both so much for thinking of us at Central Office this year and every year.

Congratulations to Ms. Vest (Instructional Support Person of the Year) and Mr. Phillip Cook (Vice Principal of the Year)!
Thank you for all you do for our school community! #allinformcminncountyschools

McMinn PREP at Niota was honored to have them visit our after-school group. Mr. Weir shared about his time in the service and his work today, while Ms. Belcher taught students about the American flag and the proper ways to handle and retire/dispose of it.
Each child received a flag, and our students created special cards and banners to give in honor of Veterans Day.
