We are preparing our students for amazing careers in STEM thanks to a grant from @TVA and BVI! The grant has allowed our teachers to provide additional resources to help their students excel in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. This would not be possible without the support of TVA, BVI, and AUB.

Over Spring Break, the CHS Spanish Department was reunited in Nashville to present their workshop entitled Save Your Sanity: No/Low Prep Games & Brain Breaks for the World Language Classroom at the Southern Conference on Language Teaching (SCOLT). The 3-hour workshop was so popular at the Tennessee World Language Teacher Association (TWLTA) Conference in November 2023 that Laura Medina, Tiffany Hernandez, & Barbara Quintard were asked by TWLTA to present it at SCOLT 2025. Through kinesthetic and hands on methods, workshop attendees participated in games and brain breaks that require little to no preparation to use in their classrooms. Related to her current position as the ESL Consulting Teacher in the district, Barbara Quintard also presented a 1-hour session entitled Everyone's an ESL Teacher: Demystifying SLA Methods for the Mainstream Classroom. This session focused on synthesizing research about what classroom teachers need to know about Second Language Acquisition (SLA) in order to best support their multilingual learners.
