McMinn PREP students at E.K. Baker have been learning about customary units and their importance and uses. Pictured are students enjoying a read aloud and asking questions about making pizza. Students will continue to learn how to use units, measurements, and read recipes. Students will end their project based learning activity with making their own cookies and decorating them with their families.




MCS staff attended the East TN Federal Programs Conference in Gatlinburg. Our very own Ms. Barbara Quintard, ESL Population Consulting Teacher, presented on Supporting ESL Students and Families. Pictured are teachers and staff who attended the conference.









MCS faculty and staff have been participating in Raptor Alert Safety Training. The Raptor Alert Software ties together the critical aspects of safety throughout schools from prevention to recovery. Thank you to the Athens Elks Lodge #1927 for organizing the Shop with an Elk Program again this year! Your motto of Elks Care Elks Share was certainly seen this weekend! Our MCS families enjoyed the hot chocolate, cookie decorating, receiving of gifts, and clothes donations. We appreciate the entire Athens Elks Lodge and so thankful you chose McMinn County Schools to be part of this great program again. Special thanks and gratitude goes to John and Mary Dyer for their hard work and dedication to our community.

McMinn PREP (MPP) students at Niota Elementary learned the history of the Christmas Card and then designed their very own card! MPP students will be sending their cards to a local nursing home for residents to enjoy!

McMinn P.R.E.P. (MPP) students at Niota Elementary participated in a Thanksgiving Parade showcasing their balloon floats. Parents were invited to watch the parade and students from the Beta Club helped with creating balloons and parade walk.











McMinn P.R.E.P. afterschool program at Mountain View Elementary held their Family Engagement Literacy Event this week. E.G. Fisher Library joined us and explained the importance of reading 20 minutes a day. Students and families enjoyed the exciting read-aloud and craft. Students were given books to have access to materials to read 20 minutes a day. Thank you E.G. Fisher Library and Jerry Hill for presenting to our students.
